Partnership at work
In partnership with Alamo’s PTA, the Friends of Alamo School Foundation raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to preserve the programming our students and families value most.
Friends of Alamo School Foundation (FASF )
Established in 1996 to support and enhance the educational opportunities of all the students of Alamo Elementary School. Its formation as the first independent public school foundation in San Francisco marked a new era in our city’s public school system.
FASF holds fundraisers (Fall Invest in Alamo Campaign together, Spring Auction & Raffle) that raise money for enrichment programs including choral music, ceramics, and outdoor education.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Alamo’s PTA bring together parents, teachers, and the community to support the school and improve education. We fundraise, volunteer, and advocate for better learning environments.
School Site Council
The Alamo School Site Council is a peer-elected group that represents the members of the Alamo community, including the principal, the teaching and support staff, the parent-body, and the local community. The San Francisco School District requires each public school to have a School Site Council and for it to focus primarily on providing constructive input into the School planning process. That means that the Site Council considers Alamo’s goals and monitors them throughout the year. The Site Council contributes to Alamo’s Balanced Scorecard, which states the school’s mission and specific goals within a template established by the district. The SSC approves the budget each year, which does not currently provide for much discretionary spending beyond staff salaries.
Get involved
Alamo has a deep and dedicated community of parent volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to support your child’s school experience while forging lasting relationships with the families in your community. Volunteer opportunities both great and small abound at Alamo. Contact your child’s teacher, the school administration or one of our parent bodies to find the right volunteership fit for your time and interests.
Thanks to our community’s generosity, we’re able to fund essential programs for our kids, like technology, arts, and field trips. Your donations make a big difference!
