"Jennifer Tong's hands-on
Visual Arts Program is most creative. She is a very talented artist
who is deeply interested in conveying her vast knowledge and experience
to the children on Alamo School
Each child is thrilled with
the finished piece. Our school is very fortunate to have Jennifer
as a member of our staff."
Fifth Grade Teacher
"I like doing art projects
with Jennifer because she thinks of great art projects."
"She would always talk
about what we were going to do before we started or the culture
we were going to learn about."
"You have taught me a lot
of new and exciting things about art."
"The favorite things
I did with you this semester was making a picture of the pharaoh.
Another favorite thing
was making hieroglyphs."

"I think Kat Sena should
be the winner of The Barbie Arts Teacher of the Year. She teaches
us about conductors, and composers. Kat teaches us about melodies,
pitch, and harmony. Kat is a good singer. She helps us learn new
song by doing "call and response". She taught us to sing
major and minor scales. We learned lots of new songs this year and
performed on stage and a winter program in front of our parents,
teacher and other students. She teaches chorus to the 3rd, 4th and
5th graders at our school. I hope that my mom will let me sign up
for chorus when I am in the 3rd grade. I think everybody should
learn music, because when they grow up they will be able to sing
and might even become a music teacher."
2nd Grade Student
"I think Kat Sena should
be the Barbie Arts Teacher of the Year because every class in our
school gets to take turns being with her. We learn new song with
her. One of my favorite songs that Kat taught us is Snow Snow Snow.
She is very special to me. She teaches us new songs every time we
go to music. We got a music folder and we put all our songs in it.
Kat wrote a special song for our school. The song goes like this
A-L-A-M-O that's our school that's Alamo every ones a friend I know
at A-L-A-M-O HEY!"
2nd Grade Student
"I have known Kat for three
years. Every school should have a music teacher like Kat. She teaches
me how to sing and over the years She has taught me some wonderful
songs. She encouraged me to even when I had a hoarse voice for about
a year. Kat is a great teacher because she has a nice voice, she's
fun, and she is always happy to see us. She is kind and patient
and never yeas at us. She makes me want to sing my best and I can't
wait to sing in her chorus. Kat teaches singing to every single
class in my school of about 600 kids and she does concerts in my
school. I think every school should have the Arts because when I
do art it makes me feel happy and it allows me to express myself."
2nd Grade Student
"Kat Sena is the best music
teacher in the world, in my opinion. She is kind knows what she
is doing, and cares about every person she teaches. I like Kat a
lot and think of her as a friend not a teacher.
Kat teaches the chorus program
in the morning before school. She teaches third, fourth, and fifth
graders. On Tuesdays, the third graders have chorus, on Wednesday
fourth and fifth graders have chorus, and on Thursday everybody
does. She teaches the chorus great songs. Recently we learned the
song "Beautiful" by Carole King. I love that song, but
when we learn a song by a person that changed music history, we
have to learn about that person.
Kat taught us a lot about Carole
King, she taught us that Carole King was the first woman who was
not afraid to put her name instead of a mans name on her records.
This was unusual at the time because female singers were not allowed
to sing, and most male singers sung the songs the women wrote and
got famous from it. Kat taught us about a lot of people like Lois
Armstrong and many others.
The Alamo School Friendship Chorus
puts onperformances for special occasion like Christmas, Grandparents
Day, end of the year, and everything in between. The chorus puts
on performances for the school also, when there is no special occasion.
I love having chorus with Kat,
and I love singing, because both of them make me happy!"
