Friends of Alamo School Foundation

The Friends of Alamo School Foundation was established in 1996 to support and enhance the educational opportunities of the students of Alamo Elementary School.

Its formation as the first independent public school foundation in San Francisco marks a new era in our city's public school system and is enthusiastically endorsed by the Board of Education, the Board of Supervisors, and the Mayor.

The foundation is managed by a Board of Directors, which includes members of Alamo parents, faculty and alumni. The purpose is to raise money for enrichment programs at Alamo.

The Foundation's Mission is to Raise Funds:

1. To finance programs that are either not funded by the District or receive minimal funding. These programs include: music, art, computer science and technology, and physical education. Other programs may be added as the need arises.

2. To provide teachers and staff with the necessary and appropriate support needed to give exceptional instruction to all of Alamo's students.

3. To provide leadership in encouraging and supporting excellence in public education.
